Explore the quiet old valley of the Schelde and the Medieval atmosphere of ancient Laarne. Stay a night, a week , or longer in the Vanhercke family's Guest Cottage Studio. Built like a typical flemish cottage; it adjoins our restored 18th century cottage and is nestled between the Water Castle and the nearby wetlands.

Recently built in the typical Flemish brick stone as a luxury studio for 2/4 persons, annexed to a restored 18 century cottage farm, at the foot of an old meander of the river The Schelde.

The Guest Cottage has a private entrance, 'original' sleeping corner, working fireplace (for romantic evenings) in a cosy 'living' area, color television and VCR, antique furniture, fully equipped modern kitchenette with cooking posibillity and fridge. Private bathroom with shower and toilet. Central heating and cable television (with CNN)

Views of old garden from the terrace are magnificent. There is an outdoor 'play' swimming pool (8x4x1 meter),that can be used in the summer months. A barbecue is at your disposal.
Many different varieties of birds can be seen both in - an around the wetlands. Remember to bring your cameras and VCR's

Our B&B place is centrally located, a few kilometers east of Ghent, in one of the most green areas in the Ghent periphery. Ideal to explore Belgium. From the B&B place, you can visit Belgium in 3 - 4 days. We can provide you with tourist information. Distances are short. We are close to the junction of several highways so you can make quick trips.

GETTING HERE

Locate the city of Ghent on your Belgian road map, follow the highway to Antwerp (E17). After about 10 kilometers take exit 11( Beervelde - Lochristi). Follow 3 km direction 'Wetteren'. You arrive at a 'T'. Turn right 2km over the bridge. At your left hand you will see a restaurant called 'La Fermette'. Turn left into the Meersakkerstraat. Drive straight ahead over the bridge crossing the highway. You already see the watermeddows. At the end there are a few houses. The Guest Cottage is at your left Meerskant 18.(look for B&B sign)
