Hotel DE TASSCHE ***

In the 13th century the foundation of this classified monument are laid. The building itself consists at that time of timber walls, a facade in timber and a thatched roof. In the 16th century the roof in thatch and de wall on the side of the Karthuizerinnenstraat are replaced by rooftiles and a brick wall with cornerstones in sandstone. The roofconstruction is still original as is the sidewall in which a bricked up lancet-window can be seen.

The first time the housename 'De Tassche" is mentioned also dates from this period. From 1580 onward all the houses in Bruges are described in the cadastre. "The house De Tassche, formerly known as the Aessack" is also mentioned. Two years later it is entered in the cadastre that De Tassche is connected to the public waterworks. On the 11th September 1682 the first mention as an inn is made. This function as a public house has been maintained ever since. The family Ackaert follows this tradition since 1985. The wooden front of the house was changed into brick in 1718. Here you can see the gabelstones with the symbol of De Tassche (a purse) and the date 1718. This gabel is the most recent part of the building.

All the rooms are equipped with a bathroom (shower or bath), television, telephone and radio. There is a bar in the hotel as well as a restaurant where our guests can enjoy half- or full board. An elevator takes you to all the floors. 

Our hotel is also child friendly with cots for rent and children's chairs in the restaurant.

In the restaurant there is also a bar where you can sit down for a drink, a chat with the friends or to meet some of our other guests.

Brugge is a city for pedestrians and cyclists. Therefore you do not need your car for a stay in Brugge. We advise to come with public transport.

From the trainstation you can take a cab to our hotel (about 10 euro) or each bus that goed to the Market Square (about 1 euro p.p.). Since Hotel De Tassche is located at the back of the Belfry (the highest building on the Market Square) it is easy to find us from there.

If you do decide to come by car, we recommend to park in the underground parkinglot Het Pandreitje. This parking is located about 200 m. from the hotel and the rate is about 9 euro per 24 hours. First come to the hotel via this route, we will then show you the way to the parking.
